Perecentage yield is calculated by coverting this fraction to a percentage by multipying by 100. Check earlier questions if you don't appreciate why this is

So the equation to use is \\[Percentage\\space yield = 100 \\times \\frac{Actual\\space yield}{Theoretical\\space yield}\\]

The units for Actual and Theoretical yields are both grams so we don't need to consolidate units

Part b

The formula tells us we need 10% Concentrated Compound Gentian Infusion BP to make up 100% of Alkaline Gentian Mixture BP as Potable water is used to make up to 100%.

So we just need to work out 10% of {volume} millilitres

You are asked to make {cream} grams Dithranol {percent}% Cream using Dithranol Powder and Emulsifing Ointment extemporaneously. To take into account some loss when transferring into the final container you need to make {excess}% excess. How many grams of Dithranol Powder should you use in total?

There are several ways to work this out. I would approach it this way. I can use the numbers with changing units as everone is in grams.

\n

For {cream} grams Dithranol {percent} % Cream we would need $ \\frac {\\var{cream} \\times \\var{percent}}{100}$ grams of Dithranol Powder.

\n

We need to make {excess}% more to ensure we enough when transferring to the final container so need to use $ (100 + \\var{excess})$ % of the amount of Dithranol Powder above.

Converting this to an equation $Amount \\space of \\space powder = \\frac {(100 + \\var{excess})\\times \\var{cream} \\times \\var{percent}}{100}$ grams.
