• Question

Given a generator matrix for a linear code, write a parity check matrix, compute the syndrome of a word, and decide if it's a codeword.

• Question

Expression of the (a+bx)^n is given and a couple of coefficients are asked for.

• Question in How-tos

A diagram showing the difference between lines, rays and segments in Eukleides.

• Exam (13 questions)

Questions on integration using various methods such as parts, substitution, trig identities and partial fractions.

• Question in How-tos

This question shows how to use the 'adviceDisplayed' signal to run some javascript when the question's advice is revealed to the student.

• Variable testing
Question

Use the testing tab in the variables section to make sure the generated variables satisfy a condition

• Question

This question loads an extension which contains a dataset in JSON format. The data is made available as a JME variable called 'animal_data'.

• Question

A simple ideal gas law question, using number of molecules, that asks the student to calculate one of the four variables. he question can ask for either L atm, or kPa m3, and either K or C for temp. As such the boltzmann constant is in either J/K or L atm/K.

• Rational functions 2
Question
Evaluating y intercept and horizontal and vertical asymptote for a rational function.
• Question
• Question

Simple exercises introducing the fundamental set operations, and NUMBAS syntax for sets.

• Question

Given percentages of males and females working on a project, and the percentage of the total staff who are male (or female), find the percentage of all staff working on the project.

Based on question 3 from section 3 of the maths-aid workbook on numerical reasoning.

• Question

A quick implementation of certainty-based marking: the student's score depends on how they rated their certainty in their answer before submission.

Because Numbas doesn't allow negative marking at the moment, scores are shifted upwards, so a high certainty incorrect answer scores 0, and a high certainty correct answer scores full credit.

• Question
The reduced masses are pre-calculated for this question and included in a list. It would be more elegant to program Numbas to permute atoms together to generate diatomic molecules while constraining the permutations to those which are chemically/physically reasonable, so as to allow calculation of each reduced mass directly from the atomic masses- but organising this with high computational efficiency might be a significant programing task (add to "to do" list).

• Question

Calculation of modulus, argument, multiplication by complex conjugate, given two complex numbers.

• Question in Stats

Assessment of basic knowledge of confidence intervals; no randomisation.

• Question

Adapted from section 7.3.1 in OpenIntro Statistics (4th ed).

• Question

Addition and subtraction of matrices; multiplication by scalar.

• Question

A really simple question which asks the student to multiply two matrices.

• Exam (3 questions)
Scalar Multiplication of matrices, plus used in combination with addition & subtraction
• Exam (4 questions)

2x2 by ad-bc, 3x3 by Laplace expansion, properties of determinants
